Showing is always more effective than telling, which is why you have so many screen recorders on the market. If you can't decide which one to pick up, you should have a look at ScreenVideo. It's simple, it's convenient, and it enables you to create quality how-to videos or anything else that involves recording the screen, without having to stare at an options panel, trying to figure out which button to press. Whenever you need to record something on your screen, you can rely on this piece of software to get the job done.

A fully-functional trial version is available, so you can test the application and see its capabilities for yourself. It doesn't take more than a minute to download its setup file and install its components, and you don't need to install any additional codecs or drivers. Also, the software doesn't have a significant impact on your computer's performance, so you don't need powerful hardware to run it.

When launched, the application presents a compact panel, with a few quick options, which you can use to prepare and start a recording session. You can decide to record the entire screen or part of it, with or without system and microphone sounds, and you can also include a webcam feed, all by just clicking a few toggle icons. The software lets you start recording just as easily, and it even displays a countdown timer, to give you time to place the mouse cursor in a certain spot if you need to.

You can pause, resume or stop the recording, and enable or disable the webcam at any time, with the help of an options panel that slides in from the top edge of the screen. Alternatively, you can use keyboard shortcuts if you don't want to ruin your recording by suddenly moving the cursor upwards. The best part about ScreenVideo's webcam support is that it automatically incorporates the feed into your video, so you don't have to do any editing later on.

Once you stop the recording, the application will provide you with a wide range of output options. If you don't know much about media formats, frame rates and so on, you can just pick one of several quality profiles, which range from "Basic" to "Ultra". However, if you want more control over how your video is stored, you can click a button to show advanced options and pick a format, resolution, frame rate and bit rate yourself. ScreenVideo doesn't keep you waiting for too long, regardless of what settings you make, which is enough to place the software on anyone's shortlist when it comes to picking a screen recorder.

ScreenVideo definitely deserves a look if you're trying to find as fast, reliable and efficient screen recorder.

Pros

You can record the screen or part of it on the fly. It lets you use a webcam and microphone, and it provides full support for picture-in-picture. The software places a good amount of output options at your disposal.

Cons

There are no options for changing the keyboard shortcuts to something more comfortable.
